Man suffers gunshot wound following fight

shreveport shooting

Shreveport Police are investigating a weekend shooting that injured a local man in Shreveport’s Southern Hills neighborhood.

Just before 2:30 p.m. on October 13, 2013, Shreveport Police were called to the 1000 block of Bert Kouns Industrial Loop relative to a shooting.  Upon the arrival of officers, information was gathered indicating a man had been shot moments earlier following a physical altercation.

Preliminary information suggests two groups of individuals met at Southern Hills Metro Park to engage in a mutual fight.  At the conclusion of the brawl, a male suspect from the opposing group reportedly fired a shot from a handgun, striking 18 year old Jamarisai Wade in the leg. Wade was transported to Willis Knighton Medical Center South and later transferred to University Health Center where he underwent surgery for a single non life threatening wound to the leg.  The investigation into the shooting is in its early stages; however authorities are confident those involved will be indentified and apprehended.  Persons with information about the crime are urged to contact Caddo- Shreveport Crimes Stoppers at (318) 673-7373 or on their website at:  www.lockemup.org
