Annual rabies vaccination, dip event slated Saturday

Bossier City Animal Control and Hand-in- Paw will hold their annual rabies vaccination clinic and Bath ’n Dip Day event on Saturday, Oct. 19, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Bossier City Animal Control, 3217 Old Shed Road in Bossier City.

Local veterinarians will be on hand to provide $5 rabies vaccination and $5 flea dips for dogs and cats. Only cash will be accepted as payment.

Pet owns who bring their pets to the event must have their dogs secured on leashes and their cats in carriers.

This event is designed to offer low-cost pet health care to the community and also provides the public with pet care awareness information.

Bossier City Animal Control will also hold its Adopt-A-Pet program during this event as well and will have a number of dogs and cats available and ready for loving homes.

Adoption fees are $55, $60 and $85, depending on the animal.

Hand-in-Paw is a support organization comprised of community volunteers dedicated to caring for and finding homes for animals brought to Bossier City Animal Control.

My dad was a star forward playing both junior college and AAU basketball. I had the honor of being Coach Dean Smith’s first recruit at the University of North Carolina back in 1968. I was a spectator in the Louisiana Superdome when the Tar Heels won two national championships.
