A man is recovering and a suspect is being sought in connection with an overnight shooting in Shreveport.

Just before 7:00 p.m. on October 20, 2013, Shreveport Police responded to University Medical Center relative to a shooting.  Upon the arrival of officers, it was learned 20 year old Deonza McClinton had been transported to the hospital's emergency room by private auto, after suffering a gunshot wound to the thigh. McClinton was treated for his injuries and is expected to survive.

Authorities believe the incident began when an alleged fight between McClinton and another man known to him, erupted near the intersection of Midway Street and Joplin Avenue.  It was reported the men struggled over a gun, during which time the weapon discharged, striking McClinton.  Shreveport Police Violent Crimes detectives responded to the scene and immediately initiated and investigation.  At current, authorities are working to gather additional information related to the shooting and are confident the arrest of a suspect is imminent.  Authorities are urging anyone with information about this crime to contact Caddo-Crime Stoppers immediately at (318) 673-7373 or on their website at www.lockemup.org
