Search under way for suspect in fatal shooting

PRESS RELEASE

Shreveport Police Department

Authorities are searching for a killer following a shooting in west Shreveport that claimed the life of a local man last Friday evening.

Just before 10:30 p.m. Friday, Shreveport police patrol officers were called to a home in the 3800 block of Huston Street in reference to a man who had reportedly been shot there.

When officers arrived, they discovered an adult male victim lying in the front yard of the residence suffering what appeared to be multiple gunshot wounds to the upper body.

The victim, identified as 41- year-old Marcus Wright of Shreveport, was rushed by Shreveport Fire Department personnel to University Health Center, where he died from his injuries.

Shreveport police violent crimes detectives along with crime scene investigators immediately launched an inquiry into the shooting.

Based on information gathered during the preliminary phase of the investigation, authorities believe Wright was shot amid a dispute regarding some aspect of a transaction involving the sale and distribution of illegal narcotics.

Authorities are working to develop leads in the matter and are asking for the public’s assistance in uncovering information that could lead to the identity and apprehension of the suspect or suspects responsible.

Persons with any information regarding this crime are urged to contact Caddo Crime Stoppers at 673-7373 or online at their Web site at www.lockemup.org.
