Woman faces charges in stabbing

Shreveport Police Department

A Shreveport woman faces murder charges in the stabbing death of her husband earlier this month.

On Dec. 4, Shreveport police were called to a mobile home park in the 7400 block of Glen Leaf Lane, where they found an adult male, identified as Louie Cobb, 60, inside the home with what appeared to be a single stab wound to the chest. He was taken to University Health Medical Center, where he later died.

Police detained Cobb’s wife, Linda Cobb, 47, who was on the scene at the time of the stabbing. Following interviews with Mrs. Cobb, she was released pending results of a continuing probe.

On Wednesday, the investigation into the matter determined insufficient evidence to support Mrs. Cobb’s initial claims of self-defense.

Following interviews with Cobb, she was arrested on a single count of second-degree murder and booked into the Shreveport City Jail.

The Louisiana Legislature just completed a “do nothing” session that proved to be a stalemate towards solving the state’s financial crisis. A new regular session has begun with few signs that anything substantive will come about. By law, no new tax matters can be considered in this even numbered year.

Flurry’s second objection to the ordinance is the requirement that permit application for cell towers must be reviewed by the city’s independent expert consultant. The city has been working with a national consultant who has a track record of requiring unreasonable, expensive requirements for cell tower installations.

Every five years, several ad valorem property taxes are placed before the citizens for renewals that provide basic city services and salaries/ benefits for our first responders and other city employees. The last time this occurred was 2013. In 2017 the taxes expired, and we made the decision to only go out for the taxes when necessary, and not before.
