Crime scene evidence leads to burglary arrest

PRESS RELEASE Shreveport Police Department

An accused burglar is behind bars thanks in part to DNA evidence.

Ricky Polo, 51, of the 6200 block of Greenwood Road in Shreveport, was charged in connection with a business burglary that occurred in May 2013 in the 2000 block of Fairfield Avenue. DNA evidence recovered from the crime scene was matched to Polo.

In addition, Polo was also linked to two other burglaries, each occurring in September 2013, in which residences in the 200 block of East Fairview Street and the 9000 block of Smitherman Drive were burglarized. Polo was linked to each crime through evidence recovered at the crime scenes. Polo was booked into the Caddo Correctional Center on charges of aggravated burglary, simple burglary of an inhabited dwelling and simple burglary.
