Walter Lee turns himself in following indictment by DeSoto Grand Jury

 Former Caddo and DeSoto Parish School Superintendent and BESE Board Member Walter Lee, turned himself in to authorities at the DeSoto Parish Sheriff's Office Friday afternoon after being indicted earlier in the morning. 

A DeStoto Parish grand jury indicted Lee on four counts, including two felony theft charges, public contract fruad and malfeasance in office. 

The indictment came on the heels of a state audit released in Decemebr showing were Lee repeatedly double-billed the system and BESE for travel and meal expenses between 2009 and 2001. 

Lee, 79, was booked on on a felony charge of malfeasance in office and felony theft. his bond has been set at $50,000.

Caddo’s highest population estimate was 257,354 on July 1, 2013. This number decreased by almost 11,000 in the next four years. The population in Bossier Parish increased by 10,000 from July 1, 2010, to July 1, 2017. In that eight-year interval, DeSoto’s population gradually increased each year.
