Teens shadow deputies for possible career

A pair of eighth-grade students from Elm Grove Middle School got a first-hand look at the operations of the Bossier Sheriff’s Office for Job Shadowing Day on Monday.

Jacob Sparer and Quinton Smith, both 14, are part of Journey to Careers class at school, and both teens are considering careers in law enforcement.

The students visited the bossier Parish Courthouse, where they were able to witness a courtroom in action.

They also saw how dispatchers operate, met with Probation and Parole, visited the North Louisiana Criminal Justice Academy and met with crime scene investigators.

The two teens also got a chance to use the police driving simulator, courtesy of Sgt. Roff Clary, and saw how shooting targets are scored from Deputy Mickey Rellin, range instructor with the Bossier Sheriff’s Office.
