Two-vehicle accident slows traffic on Old Mooringsport Road

two-car accident

A two-vehicle accident slowed traffic to a crawl for a short time Friday morning on Old Mooringsport Road.

A Chevrolet Silverado and a Ford Mustang were involved in the fender-bender. According to Caddo Sheriff’s Deputy Cpl. William Mikesell, a car traveling in front of the Silverado stopped suddenly, forcing the pickup to stop as well. The Mustang, traveling behind the Silverado, was unable to stop in time and struck the rear of the truck, wedging itself under the rear bumper.

Cpl. Mikesell said the sun shining in the faces of the two drivers made it difficult to see, contributing to the accident. “In the bright sun you can see vehicles, but it makes it hard to see the brake lights or tail lights,” he said.

Both drivers were heading to Northwood High School when the accident occurred. The male driver of the Silverado was uninjured. The female juvenile driver of the Mustang received skinned knuckles from the car’s air bag, and she also complained of a minor hand injury, which was treated by Caddo Fire District No. 1 personnel. There were no passengers in either vehicle.

No citations were issued.
