Police identify body found in Cross Lake


Shreveport police detectives have released the name of a victim whose body was discovered floating in Cross Lake last week.

Just after 11 a.m. Saturday, Shreveport Police Cross Lake Patrol officers along with Shreveport Fire Department dive teams responded to an area of Cross Lake near the I-220 Bridge in reference to the discovery of a body.

The remains were that of an adult white male who sustained significant trauma to the head. The body was recovered from the lake and presented to the Caddo Coroner’s Office for an autopsy.

Through a comparison of fingerprint data obtained from the Smith County, Texas, Sheriff’s Office, authorities have identified the remains of the victim as 54- year-old Marion Lee Brown of Weatherford, Texas.

The Shreveport Police Department was contacted by the Smith County Sheriff’s Office after they learned a man feared missing from Weatherford, Texas, fit the description of the body that was pulled from Cross Lake.

Shreveport police investigators are now working in concert with Smith County authorities and other law enforcement agencies during the ongoing investigation.
