Haughton day care owner arrested for cruelty to juveniles, simple battery

The owner of a Haughton day care center was arrested on charges of cruelty to juveniles and simple battery.

Haughton police, working with Child Protection Services and the Bossier Parish DA’s Office, arrested 49-year-old Bonnie Mathes following a two-week investigation into allegations of child abuse and battery of children at the Angel Town Day Care, located in the 200 block of South Elm in Haughton.

Mathes surrendered herself at the Bossier Parish Maximum Security Facility and was booked on 17 counts of cruelty to a juvenile and nine counts of simple battery.

The 17 children involved were boys and girls ranging in age from 8 months to 5 years.

Complaints from parents and employees led to the investigation by law enforcement.
