Church group provides assistance

A local church group is doing its part to help those in need.

The Society of St. Vincent de Paul at Sacred Heart Catholic Church provides assistance to families or persons in the community who are in need. Services range from providing assistance with utility bills and rent, feeding the hungry, even providing gasoline to those who need to get to a new job.

Every Wednesday from 9 a.m. to noon, groceries, clothing, shoes and household items are given to those who need them.

Sacred Heart Catholic Church is located at 4736 Lyba in Shreveport.

To apply for assistance, call the SVDP hotline at 865-7807.

The last time this occurred was 2013. In 2017 the taxes expired, and we made the decision to only go out for the taxes when necessary, and not before.
