Man arrested following domestic incident

A local man has been arrested in connection with a domestic incident that occurred earlier this month.
Back on July 7, Shreveport police were called to a residence located in the 100 block of Albany Drive in reference to an armed person call stemming from a domestic dispute.
When officers arrived, they learned that a female victim, while outside of her house, had been rendered unconscious by her spouse following a verbal dispute which turned physical.
it was further alleged the woman, after regaining consciousness, went inside her home, where a second altercation with her husband ensued in which the man, identified as 37-year-old Michael Gregory Payne, allegedly produced a semi-automatic rifle and pointed it at the woman.
The woman sought refuge at a neighboring home, where authorities were contacted.
Since the incident, detectives with the Shreveport Police Domestic Violence Unit procured a warrant for Payne’s arrest.
On Monday, Payne was taken into police custody following his surrender to authorities.
Payne has been charged with a single count of domestic abuse battery aggravated assault, along with a single charge of seconddegree battery.
He was booked into the Caddo Correctional Center.
No bond has been set in the matter.
