Ongoing: “Autographing History,” an exhibit of 54 documents, letters and receipts bearing the signatures of famous historical figures including presidents George Washington, John Adams and Thomas Jefferson, Alexander Hamilton and Aaron Burr, Benjamin Franklin, Napoleon Bonaparte, and many more. The collection on loan from Gloria B. Meyer of Shreveport and the late Charlton E. Meyer Jr. is on display at the Louisiana State Exhibit Museum, 3015 Greenwood Road. Hours: Monday-Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Saturday-Sunday, noon to 4 p.m. For more information, call 632-2020.

Every Wednesday: The Society of St. Vincent de Paul at Sacred Heart Catholic Church provides assistance to those families or persons in the community who are in need. Services range from provided assistance with utility bills, rent, feeding the hungry, even providing gasoline for those who need to get to a new job. Every Wednesday from 9 a.m. to noon, gro ceries, clothing, shoes and household items are given to those who need them. The church is located at 4736 Lyba in west Shreveport near the airport. Every Wednesday & first Tuesday of the month: Project Matt’s HOPE, free support group for family and friends of people in prison, 7-9 p.m., Paula’s Sav Tax, 3621 W. 70th St. For additional information, e-mail projectmattshope@ yahoo.com.

Every Thursday: Cancer Support Group, for cancer patients and family members, noon-1 p.m., Conference Room, Christus Schumpert Cancer Treatment Center, One St. Mary Place. Free. For more information, call Mimi at 681-6231.

First Thursday of the month: Amputee Support Group, monthly meeting for all amputees, featuring monthly guest lecturers including doctors, ther apists, counselors, prosthetics and more, 6:30 p.m. Certified Limb and Brace, 3227 Portland Ave. near the corner of I-20 and Greenwood Road. Every Saturday: Bossier Animal Control Adoption Days, meet dogs, cats, puppies and kittens who are in need of a good home, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at PetSmart, 2631 Beene Blvd. in Bossier City. For more information, call 741-8499.

Every third Saturday of the month: Southern Christian Writer’s Club, meets from 4:30-6:30 p.m. at the Calvary Abundant Life Tabernacle, corner of Bethel Road and Highway 84 East in Logansport, La. Its mission is to help and encourage writers share their love of Jesus with others through publishing. Writers in both religious and secular writing are welcome. Membership is $20 per year. Aug. 15: Pat Green to play at the stage at silver star smokehouse- A Green has become a cultural force across the country selling out venues from Nokia Theater in Times Square to the Houston Astrodome in Texas. Sept. 18: Ken Jordan from Crystal Method will be presenting a free concert for all ages under the Texas Street Bridge starting at 7 p.m. as part of the third annual Digifest South event; Local artists Nanolog and Ryan Viser will open the show, and Jordan will perform at 9 p.m.
