Two suspects arrested for shoplifting

A pair of suspected thieves are behind bars for their alleged involvement in a retail theft that happened at a southeast Shreveport business Saturday afternoon.

Just before 4:30 p.m., Shreveport police patrol officers were dispatched to the JC Penney store in the 7400 block of Youree Drive in reference to a shoplifting that had just occurred.

When officers arrived, they were told that a male and a female exited the store with numerous stolen items, fleeing the business in a newer-model, four-door Fiat last seen headed north on Youree Drive.

Additional information was relayed to investigating officers, ultimately leading them to the suspects’ vehicle, which was pulled over by authorities in the 300 block of Southfield Road.

During the traffic stop, officers detained the occupants inside the vehicle. Evidence located inside the vehicle was consistent with property stolen from the business.

Shreveport police property crimes detectives immediately responded to the scene. During a probe of the incident, it was learned that 29-year-old Terence

Jerome Turner and 26-year-old Breunica Octavia Turner, both of the 1600 block of Nichols on Street, entered the retail store, where they gathered up over $1,300 worth of merchandise before leaving the business without paying for the items.

Investigators interviewed both suspects on the scene and subsequently transported them to the Shreveport City Jail, where they were both booked on one count of felony theft of goods.

Authorities are looking into other crimes the two suspects allegedly committed at the same retail store.
