Deputy Jon Blanco has been booked into the City Jail

Here we go again with meddling federal judges. The 5 th U.S Circuit Court of Appeals came down hard on Louisiana charter schools last week. Charter schools, that by definition are independent with major input from parents, now will have to bargain with teachers’ unions.

Just after 5 p.m. on Sunday, Shreveport police patrol officers were called to the 3000 block of Marquette Avenue relative to a burglary in progress. Upon officers’ arrival at the scene, it was learned one male was deceased inside the residence and another male was being detained outside the home.

Field sobriety tests were administered on scene and at the DWI Unit. McCoy performed poorly on her sobriety tests and nearly lost her balance during the walk-and-turn test. She admitted to taking pain killers in the morning. She blew a BAC of .000g% during the breath test and refused a blood test at University Health.

A local man was arrested on drug charges after he was found to be in possession of crack cocaine. Last Friday, Oct. 5, a Shreveport police officer saw a male subject on adjudicated property at Snow and Pickett streets. The officer saw the man putting a large black baggie behind his back.

The Supreme Court of old was more majestic with few periods of confrontation. Just a decade ago, twothirds of Americans had great confidence in the Court. No more. There’s trouble brewing in those marble temple walls. Confidence in the workings of the court and the Justices themselves have dropped to a mere 50 percent approval rating.
