The incident occurred on June 2 close to midnight. According to police reports from the Webster Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched to the Dixie Inn boat launch to assist the Dixie Inn police. Michael Herman claimed he and three juveniles were frog hunting on Dorcheat Creek when they were shot at.

The investigation began July 14, after a 2005 GMC Sierra pickup truck belonging to the Bossier City Fire Department was discovered parked in the 100 block of Tiburon Boulevard. Two people, later identified as Alexis Nicole Sanders, 19, of Bossier City and Trevor James McClelland, 19, of Princeton, were seen by wit nesses.

I, for one, happened to pass a Bossier deputy one day assisting a young teenage driver with changing a flat tire. That same deputy could have easily driven by or simply pulled over to assist with traffic. Instead, they got down and changed the tire for the young man, who may or may not have known what to do in the situation.

The defendant, Johnesia Shuntrell Conway, pled guilty to second-degree cruelty to a juvenile and was sentenced to 15 years at hard labor. A hearing was held on the defendant’s timely filed motion to reconsider sentence, which was subsequently denied. The defendant then appealed, arguing that her sentence is excessive.

During a search incidental to arrest, a silver pipe used for inhaling drugs was found in his right jacket pocket. During booking, another clear pipe for the same purpose was found in his right front shirt pocket Post-Miranda, he admitted to taking the items and said that the pipes were used for drug activity.

The Louisiana Legislature just completed a “do nothing” session that proved to be a stalemate towards solving the state’s financial crisis. A new regular session has begun with few signs that anything substantive will come about. By law, no new tax matters can be considered in this even numbered year.

Flurry’s second objection to the ordinance is the requirement that permit application for cell towers must be reviewed by the city’s independent expert consultant. The city has been working with a national consultant who has a track record of requiring unreasonable, expensive requirements for cell tower installations.

Every five years, several ad valorem property taxes are placed before the citizens for renewals that provide basic city services and salaries/ benefits for our first responders and other city employees. The last time this occurred was 2013. In 2017 the taxes expired, and we made the decision to only go out for the taxes when necessary, and not before.
